CLAT stands for COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST. The score of CLAT is taken National Law Universities. (NLUs) for admissions to their UG and PG degree
programmes. The exam will be held for a duration of two-hours, and in offline mode, in more than 83 test cities across India. CLAT 2024-25 question paper will include objective-type questions wherein UG Exam shall comprise 120 (one twenty) questions instead of 150 (one fifty) questions. The 120 questions will continue to be organised into five sections.i.e. English Language, Current Affairs Including General Knowledge , Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. The counselling/ admission process for admission to five-year LLB and one-year LLM courses will be completed before August 2023, for seat allotment at 22 participating National Law Universities (NLUs) in India.

CLAT is one of the most-competitive entrance exams for admissions to law courses including five-year integrated LLB and one-year LLM courses in law colleges of India. The exam, primarily conducted for admission to law courses offered by participating NLUs including top 3 law colleges in India as per National Institutes Ranking Framework (NIRF). However, CLAT is also accepted by top private law colleges in India. Apart from admissions, CLAT LLM scores are also considered by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for filling up various positions in their Legal departments.
Therefore, CLAT is a national-level entrance exam, held in an offline mode for both courses. The question paper of CLAT for UG courses is based on five subjects i.e. English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Whereas, CLAT question paper for PG courses is based on law subjects including Constitutional Law, Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR and Jurisprudence, as well as, Law topics and Contemporary issues. Around 3.000 seats at the undergraduate level, and around 1,000 seats at
postgraduate level are filled at the participating NLUs through Centralized
Admission Process of seat allotment.

The CLAT exam is a national level entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programs at various law schools and universities in India. The exam is administered by the Consortium of National Law Universities, and is conducted in offline mode. The exam typically consists of multiple-choice questions based on subjects such as English, general knowledge, legal aptitude, logical reasoning, and mathematics.
To be eligible to take the CLAT exam, a candidate must have completed their 10+2 education or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum score of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). Candidates who are appearing for their final examination in the year of the CLAT exam are also eligible to apply.
The CLAT exam is a two-hour-long paper-based test, consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions. The exam is divided into five sections, each carrying 1 mark. The sections include English language, general knowledge and current affairs, elementary mathematics, legal aptitude, and logical reasoning. The syllabus for the exam is generally based on the 10+2 level curriculum of various boards in India.
Based on the CLAT exam scores, candidates are shortlisted for counselling and seat allocation. The counselling process is typically conducted in multiple rounds, and candidates are allotted seats in various law schools based on their preferences and merit. The final selection of candidates is based on their CLAT scores, their performance in the counselling rounds, and meeting the eligibility criteria of the participating law schools.
